Moving Sale! from Prairie Moon Quilts

As I’ve mentioned before, we are fixin’ to move, so I’ve been seriously trying to downsize everything (studio and house) so that it will all fit into our new, smaller house.

As time for moving draws nearer, I’m ramping up my efforts to downsize even further, so to help with that, I’m having a Moving Sale in my Etsy Shop for the entire month of April!

Everything in the shop is 10% off for the entire month, with the exception of PDF patterns. So that means finished quilts, gift items, print patterns, booklets, even the clearance ...

Pink Lady from Prairie Moon Quilts

It’s finally here — the 2023 Prairie Moon Ranch Cowboy Boot Christmas Stocking! And I guess I should say “cowgirl”, cos it’s called “Pink Lady” this year. I haven’t done a pink stocking since 2009, so I figured it was high time for another one.

Here she is:

This year’s boot features very simple hand embroidery, and just that tiny bit of appliqué to give it some accents.

Naturally, you can make it in whatever colors you need, to make it for a cowboy or someone who doesn’t like pink!

You can also leave off the ...

Kathy’s Ramble from Prairie Moon Quilts

Were you aware that the simple patchwork pinwheel block has many names? One of those names is “Kathy’s Ramble”.

When I designed the Arrow Rock Sampler quilts, I included this block in the quilt in honor of Kathy Borgman, who runs Borgman’s Bed & Breakfast in the Village of Arrow Rock. It’s where I’ve stayed every year during the Arrow Rock Quilt Camp.

I can’t even begin to say enough good things about Kathy. I just love her! Every year during Camp, she let me have a full HALF of the upstairs of her house all ...

News From the Ranch, Episode 1823 from Prairie Moon Quilts

Merry Christmas from all of us here at Prairie Moon Ranch! And if you don’t celebrate Christmas, I hope you are at least enjoying the holiday season as a time to slow down, take a breather, and enjoy family.

Our family is not gathering this year. I need to keep My Cowboy safe, and our father just turned 86 years old, so we’re protecting him, too. And we’re usually not a family who does things for Christmas in a big way, anyway, so it’s not a big deal for us to skip one meal together. I ...

Some New Kits from Prairie Moon Quilts

If you’ve been with me any length of time, then you know I do lots of collaborations with my best friend, Victoria Findlay Wolfe. Usually, it’s Victoria designing fantastic quilts, and then me adding the machine quilting part.

Well, we’ve put our heads together again, and this time we decided to combine HER fabrics with some of MY patterns, to bring you some fresh kits at great prices to make some really neat quilts!

Here’s my Charleston Pavement pattern in three fresh new color ways:

And here’s my Greek Cross pattern in some new colors ...

Craft in America from Prairie Moon Quilts

Craft in America on PBS is airing an episode on QUILTS!

Tonight!

You’ll have to check your local listings for the time. The episode features 4 quilters, each with a very different style, and also features the International Quilt Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska, and some of the things they do. I think it’s wonderful for the quilting world to get this type of recognition, and the episode is very nicely done!

But here’s the most exciting part for me . . .

One of the featured quilters is my best friend, Victoria Findlay Wolfe, so I actually got to see ...

Rodeo Queen from Prairie Moon Quilts

Merry Christmas!!

I realize I’m terribly late getting this year’s Prairie Moon Ranch Cowboy Boot Christmas Stocking published, but what better day than today to be late with it, huh?

This year’s stocking is called “Rodeo Queen”. I’ve been wanting to make a mostly white stocking for several years, and Rodeo Queen is my attempt to do that. Not technically white, but it did turn out just like I wanted. She’s a bit fancier with her higher heel this year!

The embroidery on this one is simple, and there are only 3 applique pieces, so ...
